Los medios digitales como herramientas de manipulación de procesos electorales democráticos: un análisis del caso Brexit

Resumen

El 2016 se entiende como un hito en la política internacional. Las victorias del Brexit y de Donald Trump marcaron el ascenso de la extrema derecha en Occidente y la institucionalización de lo que se empezó a denominar “era de la posverdad”. En ambos sucesos, se observó un descuido de los valores democráticos y la adopción de un discurso excluyente para alcanzar los objetivos de un grupo político específico. En ese contexto, empieza a surgir una amplia literatura que busca comprender cómo llegamos a este escenario de desconfianza en las instituciones y en la veracidad de los hechos. Este artículo busca enmarcarse dentro de estos aportes, pues brinda una interpretación acerca del actual contexto de debilitamiento de los valores y los procesos democráticos por medio de una estrategia digital de manipulación de la sociedad.
