Abstract

This article analyzes the factors behind the rise of global history, identifies its contours, and sketches its areas of focus, including such fields as comparative, transnational and croisée history. It also details the main obstacles that it should confront and the challenges it offers to history tout court. Based on the disquisitions that this historical perspective offers, the author provides some clues of how to make global history a focus for the study of the contemporary historical present.
