Guaicaramo, welfare and sustainable development in the eastern plains of Colombia

Abstract

This article presents the author’s impressions after a visit to the Guaicaramo company’s premises, located in the foothills of the Eastern Plains of Colombia. First, it presents several examples of both its agricultural and industrial processes; these examples illustrate how the company has incorporated technological and engineering elements into the productive process. Then, it explains how the company give back by creating welfare and sustainable development for nearby communities.
