Abstract
The arrival of the pandemic brought with it the need to expand the offer of personal protection equipment. This triggered the development of novel devices and materials to meet the new biosecurity and airway protection requirements of our communities. The Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Design of the University worked together with the Ministry of Health, ICONTEC and the textile industry (Protela SA), and in collaboration with the Saldarriaga Concha Foundation, to define technical requirements for face masks and their production standards, and the quality verification measures needed to protect Colombians.
