Resumen

As use to happen with most civil works, the cost of pavement construction involves two components, the one direct corresponding to initial investment and the other in maintenance delayed in its economic life. High quality of design and materials represents a more expensive construction that needs less maintenance. For the construction of pavements in Bogotá, it has been usual to take in to consideration just the initial cost. This approach has shown to be very inappropriate because the duration of pavements obtained is much less than estimate, involving very high costs for repair. Those very brief notes on the subject finalize recommending to local authorities a change in the design approach that yields a better result in the long term.
