Abstract

Are the spades a useful category in the analysis, understanding and narration of their participation in past social life? Through the analysis and discussion of the diverse practical contexts of which the spades were part of, the ways in which these artifacts were categorized and participated actively in the constitution of the subjects, the domestic social groups and the oasis landscape are explored. Whole and fragmented basalt- andesitic spade blades, obtained on the surface and excavated collections at Tebenquiche Chico, integrate the data of this research oriented towards the understanding of the production and reproduction of the social life in the puna oasis during the first millennium A. D.
