Abstract
This text analyzes the central aspects of Brazilian foreign policy during the first six months of the Lula government. After identifying a series of continuities in the country's foreign policy, the principal initiatives of the Worker's Party that distinguish the Lula administration from its predecessor are highlighted. Finally, the author discusses the ways in which foreign policy has been used to satisfy domestic objectives.
