Achievements and Prospects: Taking Advantage of the Free Trade Agreement with the United States

This article reviews the opportunities and challenges faced by the export sector in the light of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States. Additionally, it outlines an analysis of the cross-cutting needs of different economic sectors including hygiene, plant hygiene and quality. It also highlights the need to strengthen the competitiveness of sectors including agriculture and livestock, clothing manufacture, health services, metallurgy and agro-industry by developing logistical capacity and innovation strategies to ensure efficiency and enable advantage to be taken of the bilateral treaty.
