Editorial Policy

Revista de Ingeniería is a biannual publication of the School of Engineering of Universidad de los Andes. With 500 printed copies per edition and an open access digital version, it contains articles by experts with qualified reflections on topics of prime importance to our national reality, in which engineering plays a primary role. Revista de Ingeniería has become a technical and academic benchmark in Colombia, useful for debate and decision-making, particularly for the consolidation of new production and transformation scenarios for our territory.

Each edition concentrates on a particular topic, for which the Editorial Committee relies on a guest editor with extensive experience and national recognition on that topic, who together with the Committee selects the most relevant national and foreign authors to analyze the problem.

Editorial process

Since its 44th Edition, Revista de Ingeniería is nourished through a biannual open forum in which a relevant topic is addressed through master conferences and debate panels moderated by experts in that field. After the event, the editorial team invites the speakers, panelists and moderators to submit an article for the journal´s next edition, developing their ideas further.

In addition to coordinating the entire editorial process and providing technical and formal guidelines to develop the articles, the editorial team is able to provide support and accompaniment in structuring articles to those authors who require it.

In those cases where panelists or speakers do not have the tools or the time to develop their written contribution to the journal, the editorial team can make a transcription of their participation in the forum or an interview for subsequent development of a related article.

The editorial schedule for each issue is designed once all invited authors confirm their participation.

The editorial production process lasts approximately eight to ten weeks, which starts when the Editorial Team has received all manuscripts. During this period, members of the Editorial Committee will review them, authors may make corrections, and the authors and reviewers will make style corrections, validations and final approvals of the manuscripts including their layout and PDF versions. Once this stage is over, copies are printed over a period of two to three weeks; and these are distributed in approximately ten working days to national destinations and up to 20 to international destinations.

In addition to all subscribers, printed copies of the journal are distributed to a specialized database that is shaped throughout the editorial process, which includes opinion leaders, decision makers, academics, officials, businessmen, the media and forum attendees, among others.

Similarly, regarding the dissemination of the journal, a specific communication strategy is designed for each issue, which includes content for social networks, multimedia tools, press releases and mass emails, etc. All communications include links to the digital version of the journal, which is open access.
