Abstract
This article presents an ex—ante evaluation of a set of public policies in the areas of conservation and security in the Chingaza National Park of Colombia. To evaluate those policies, which could be implemented jointly or individualy, a Contjoint Analysis was used. The gains in welfare that would result from the individual or form the joint implementation of diferent combinations of policies were measured. It was found that the benefits of the joint implementation of conservtion and sequirity policies were larger than the sum of the benefits that would be obtained if they were implemented separatedly. In addition, it was found that while conservation policies alone would not be cost-efective, security policies would be.
