Abstract
The main objective of this article is to trace the possible connections between the original proposition of the Theory of Demographic Transition and the paradigms developed in the second half of the XXth Century to explain changes in fertility behavior. The relevant findings refer to the continuities and interruptions of theoretical paradigms chosen for the study. The focus of the analysis being upon micro and macro economic theoretical models, proximate determinants of fertility, intergenerational wealth-flow, fertility and gender. The discussion between paradigms’ changes and different policies interventions in the variable fertility constitute an other focus of interest in the analyses of the chosen framework.
