Abstract
Several works about the exports impact over the Colombian firms productivity have been written in the past decade. However, none of them have used information posterior 1994 cause of methodological changes in the information sources. This work solves the problem thorough an alternative way to monitor the exporting experience of the manufacturing firms for the period 1992-2002. Using the resulting database it explores the relationship between productivity and exporting experience through a data panel analysis. The results indicate the existence of a “virtuous circle” between the two variables: the exporting firms become more productive and this improves his competitive position in local markets.
