Abstract
Art, polysemic as it is, allows a multiplicity of readings to be made depending on the personal, sociocultural and temporal context of the viewer. This paper is written by a basting of the analysis of an installation work by Raquel Paiewonsky, and a glass box by Carmen Mariscal, both reflecting around motherhood and breastfeeding, as well as the author’s personal experience as a woman and as a mother. Reflecting on artworks made from thread and materials historically charged with “femininity”, this essay aims to challenge canonic ways of writing, reading, and understanding art and Art History.
