Abstract

"Ninjas have been one of the most recognized Japanese cultural figures in the Western world, alongside samurais, ever since we first saw them in the movies of the famous 'Ninja Boom' during the early 1980s. Those of us who are over 40 years old and enjoy martial arts films remember the movies of the actor, writer, filmmaker, and martial artist, Shō Kosugi, whose real name is Kosugi Shōichi (小杉 正一), such as Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja, Ninja III: The Domination, Nine Deaths of the Ninja, among others.
