Abstract

"This bilingual quality of the text results in a constant combination of the use of English and Japanese, typically reserving Japanese for personal considerations of the character Minae, narrative annotations, and conversations with family and friends of Japanese origin. English is used for interactions with non-Japanese characters and the occasional word or phrase."
