Abstract
This text offers a series of reflections concerning the relationship between trade and the environment, in light of the effects that a Free Trade Agreement might have for environmental norms and institutions. The first part of the article examines the implications of extending intellectual property rights to the specific case of biological diversity. In the second second, the author analyzes existing multilateral agreements concerning the environment. Finally, the relation between environmental institutionality and citizen participation in this area is studied.
