Concebir las prácticas artísticas en un marco transcultural

Resumen

El término “transculturación”, hoy en día de uso frecuente en la historia del arte y la antropología, fue introducido en 1940 por el antropólogo cubano Fernando Ortiz, quien buscaba reconocer la agencia de los sujetos indígenas en una sociedad heterogénea y neocolonial. En concordancia con los esfuerzos de Ortiz por desarrollar un análisis social desligado del pensamiento racial, el presente ensayo argumenta que al elucidar un repertorio amplio de procesos de producción de conocimiento bajo el término “transcultural” se accede a una aproximación dialéctica y relacional al arte y la techne que permite estudiar las conexiones entre las personas, las cosas y las ideas, y abarcar una diversidad de tecnologías.
