Abstract

Kazuhiko Odaki is a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Japan (Nihon Daigaku) and prior to entering academia, he worked for many years in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). In September 2022, he visited the Japan Center at University of the Andes to present the conference 'Economic Development of Japan in the Postwar Era.' The Kōbai team, with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Colombia, had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with him, primarily focusing on two peculiarities of Japanese society: the labor system and socio-economic equity.
