Abstract
The challenges of life require today more than ever to approach them from multiple approaches to
provide solutions according to the reality, to respond to the needs of our society and its connection with the international community. Three aspects will be presented: the profile and role of the jurist, and finally, the legal work in El Salvador. With this purpose, the profile of the jurist will be addressed according to the academic programs of the Universities and the influence of the Civil
Law (continental Law) in the case of El Salvador and the common law by support of the United States of America. Likewise, the role of jurists, the function that jurists perform as consultants and assistants of their clients or officials of state entities. The exercise of the jurist’s role places him in the dilemma of merely applying a legal provision or solving people’s problems.
