About the Journal
Dearq is a quarterly publication* (January-April, May-August, and September-December), published at the beginning of each period, created in 2007 by the Department of Architecture of the Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). Its objective is to disseminate the national and international academic community's research, analyses, and opinions on architecture, urbanism, and related areas. The journal receives previously unpublished and original contents in Spanish and English.
It is aimed at a scientific community that includes researchers, professionals, students, and others interested in contributing to the dialogue and exchange of ideas based on the discussions and issues proposed by the journal.
The structure of the Dearq journal is divided into sections*:
- The Research section integrates a series of documents and content about a specific topic proposed by the journal. They must present advances in or results of research, or thematic reviews from a critical and analytical perspective, giving an account of new trends in a specific area of knowledge.
- The Project section presents a current or meaningful selection of built architectural and urban projects that illustrate and complement the issue.
- The Creation section exhibits creative works that address the issue's topic through disciplines different from architecture.
The journal introduces the issue's topic with a text written by the Editorial Team or the Guest Editors, as the case may be.
The main scientific area assigned to Dearq according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCDE) is:
Humanities (Large Area: 6)
Art (Area: 6.D)
Architecture and Urbanism (Discipline)
Dearq is an Open Access journal. All contents published digitally (eISSN: 2215-969X) through the website are available to all users and institutions in XML, EPUB and PDF formats. According to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of Open Access, users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search and link the content. They can use it for any other lawful purpose without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. The printed version (ISSN: 2011-3188) includes a cost and can be purchased at authorized stores.
In the event the journal is discontinued, Dearq would offer access to all its published content at the Universidad de los Andes' Institutional Repository.
Publications interested in establishing a periodic exchange with the Dearq should send a copy of theirpublication to our postal address accompanied by a letter requesting the exchange and indicating the postal address where copies should be sent if the exchange request is accepted.
*Since 2020, Dearq journal has been developing a transition plan that involves several aspects: The first has to do with the frequency of its publication, going from half-yearly (two publications a year) to quarterly (three publications a year); the second is the restructuring of the journal's sections, removing the Open Research section and the Deuniandes section; the last one deals with the publication languages, the discontinuation of content in Portuguese, and the bilingual publication (Spanish-English) of all the contents of the journal from 2021.
