Abstract

The impressions that arise from the idea of a holiday home in Villa de Leyva, designed by Guillermo Fischer, evoke an approximation of the meaning and story of the villa, understood to be the building typology that was the answer to the trend of country houses. This paper details a hypothesis that addresses: the moral and aesthetic relationship of the house (using preexisting buildings as examples), and deeply ingrained social traditions. It also describes the ‘growing together’ and ‘drifting apart’ of the villa in relationship to its position within a spatiotemporal context. The revival of the typology in the villa in Villa de Leyva is documented, and is thanks to the attention to detail of the history and the careful project undertaken by the architect Guillermo Fischer.
