Abstract

The following paper discusses cinematography; in particular how its creative techniques (construction) are utilized to display architectural works. It presents an interpretation of the possibilities that arise when these two disciplines meet. This encounter is always contemplated from the perspective of the architectural project: from its conception-composition. The paper is based on the techniques of cinematographic language that have the closest relationship with the spatial architectural projection. The purpose is to find parallels between both artistic expressions. From a compositional perspective, and with the help of supporting literature, it is the intention of this paper to provide a deeper understanding of the possibilities that this relationship brings. Experience is imparted through references to well-known architectural works, which manifest a creative attitude through their very composition. These examples help explain the author’s proposal and the text is an invitation to recontemplate architecture from a different perspective: a view which could lead to an entirely different understanding. The fundamental purpose of this paper, more than being solely expository, is to provide a purposeful insight for the person who is confronted by new spaces.
