Abstract

ENHSA Latin America is an academic network, the purpose of which is to continue developing professional curriculums through close liaisons with European institutions. Eighteen Latin American countries took part in six workshops designed to cover the following topics: review the changes made to their curriculums based on the development of competencies; the analysis of research methodologies in architecture; the review of the scope of the undergraduate final year project; the methodological suggestions to be implemented for first year architectural students; and a critical reflection of the new values and challenges for the future of architectural education in the twenty-first century. Although the project does not yet have specific conclusions, the difficulties that European universities have in creating and consolidating a common educational space in the E.U. are manifest. These factors are also beginning to become evident in Latin America as globalisation and internationalisation is encouraging this education model.
