Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the following question: could the study of existing buildings contribute to the history of architecture’s teaching practices? In order to answer this question, the concept of the notion of a teaching practice is explained, and the fundamental elements of a topographical approximation are considered. This discipline’s objects of study are works understood as objects/events, or incidents in constructed space. The paper then goes on to describe what was achieved during the degree in Architecture’s History workshops at Universidad de los Andes. In this environment the causes and implications of the previous statement became evident.
