Abstract

This paper analyses the buildings that comprise the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Oporto, planned and designed between 1983 and 1996. Its purpose is to inform the reader of the renowned Porto School of Architecture’s relationship with its theoretical and pedagogical philosophy. By studying the school as a building and as a teaching model it can be seen that the theory and practice of an architectural project is Unitarian and indivisible, or, according to Fernando Tavora, “the deep thought and practice are not simply the consequence of the materials themselves. They are instead the result of a unique thought expressed through a drawing”.
