Abstract

This paper is part of the research project Torre-plataforma, Colombia, años cincuenta y sesenta (Base and tower, Colombia, 1950s and 1960s), the advances of which have previously been published in this journal. This part of the research deals with the alternative possibilities for building transition floors in the Colombian cases of this building type. Cases are presented that follow the system established by Lever House -a transition floor between base and tower slabs left open completely-, others that use the transition floor to articulate the structures of the building’s parts, and singular cases that are completely different.

Keywords: base and tower, transition floors, architectural creation, connectivity in heterogeneous buildings, architectural project, modern architecture
