About the Journal
H-ART Revista de historia, teoría y crítica de arte is a peer reviewed publication created in 2016. The journal is hosted and funded by the Department of Art History and the Faculty of Art and Humanities of the Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia).
Its objective is to contribute to the dissemination of the research, analyses and opinions about the history, theory and criticism of art. The journal publishes previously unpublished content by national and international authors, including articles, reviews, critical texts, and interviews, as well as digital curatorships and other special formats. H-ART is an open space to a plurality of ideas that allows the creation of a forum for the reflections about art. It is aimed to professors, professionals, graduate students and people interested in the history, theory and criticism of art and other related areas. H-ART is a triannual publication (January-April, May-August, September-December) and is published at the beginning of each of these periods as a digital version of open access. The quality of the articles is ensured through an internal and external evaluation process, which is carried out by national and international academic peers.
The journal includes various sections, ranging from academic research articles to critical analysis of artworks, book reviews, exhibitions, interviews, and other experimental formats that can be found in the section Fringes.
The journal publishes content in the following sections
- Editorial. Contextualizes and introduces the issue, moreover it highlights aspects that deserve the readers’ attention.
- Articles. A collection of unpublished texts that are the result of a thorough investigation, critical analysis of artworks, documents, and phenomena in the art field.
- Art history questionnaire. Includes responses of art historians, artists, curators, researchers, theorists, professors, and professionals related to the field. In each issue selects and publishes an answer.
- Reviews. Editorial and exhibition novelties in the art world, with an especial focus on Latin-America and the Caribbean.
- Critic. A space for the critical experience of art through an emotional writing that goes beyond the review.
- Fringes. Space for the encounter with artists, curators and creators. It explores, accompanies and enriches the themes of our magazine in a creative and novel way.
- Interviews. dialogues with artists, curators, critics, and art historians. Some interviews follow the classic format and others are responses to an art history questionnaire.
H-ART. Revista de historia, teoría y crítica de arte publishes this contents of the different sections within the issue, or in the form of advanced publications that can be accessed through hart.uniandes.edu.co. The advanced publications are contents that have been reviewed by the editorial team of the journal and can be found in their final version. These are published on the journal’s web page in advance of the publication of the issue that will contain them.

H-ART is an Open Access journal. The journal declares that all the articles it receives are submitted to a plagiarism detection test; the contents that are published in the digital version are freely available and can be consulted in HTML version and downloaded in PDF format; The authors should manifest that the text they present is of their own authorship, unpublished, and that they respect the intellectual property rights of third parties. The peer reviewers should indicate on the peer review format that they have no conflict of interest with the authors and topics on which they are going to render judgment.
