The Western and Land Art: The Experience of the Threshold

Abstract

This article establishes a juxtaposition between two artistic forms, Western and Land Art, regarding the way in which they use landscape as one of their constituent elements. Based on the relationship between the consolidation of landscape as an artistic matter in painting and the establishment of a subjective framework for appreciating and conceptualizing the natural environment, as well as on an analysis of specific artworks and elements from both movements, different points of convergence between western and land art are explored.
