LITERARY EKPHRASIS AND NOVELISTIC ARCHITECTURE: LOS CUADERNOS DE DON RIGOBERTO BY MARIO VARGAS LLOSA

This paper proposes a different interpretation of the novel Los cuadernos de don Rigoberto by Mario Vargas Llosa, focusing on the rhetorical figure of ekphrasis. It examines the novelistic architecture and verbal and visual representation as pillars of what would constitute a genuine iconoverbal novel. The study is supported by the analysis strategies from literary semiotics, narratology and rhetoric, which allow a comprehensive understanding of subject matter.
