Abstract

In 2010, the Colombian Ministry of Culture, led by Paula Moreno, minister at the time, published the Library of Afro-Colombian Literature (BLACOL, acronym in Spanish). This collection seeks to guarantee the acknowledgment and visibility of the literature written by black men and women in Colombia within a literary field that, historically, has characteristically been configured along exclusionary practices motivated, mainly but not exclusively, by “racial” criteria. This interview with Paula Moreno is aimed at delineating the management, selection, editing and publication process of the works that constitute BLACOL. Additionally, it examines the scenarios and social dynamics that underly this collection with the aim of understanding the publication of this collection as an affirmative action within the exclusive Colombian literary field.

Keywords: race, racism, afro colombian literature, negredumbre, segregation, colombian literature, sociology of literature, Colombia
