Uses and abuses of AI in the contemporary Landnahme process

Abstract

Based on the growth in the use of artificial intelligence (AI), which is expressed in the context of information technology interventions and the expansion of the platformization of life, we seek to understand this movement from the perspective of socio-economic expropriation (Landnahme) and its direct impact on democracy and the processes of hegemonic dispute over common sense. Along these lines, we seek to discuss the uses (abuses) of A.I. as a technology that has been employed primarily to serve corporate interests and the effects of this movement on the formation of a more commercialized sociability that is increasingly inserted into surveillance capitalism. With this in mind, we analyzed the consequences for education and human formation, which is going through a new phase of cognitive and psychophysical development in which A.I. has a strong predominance. What are the effects of this process on individuals’ passivity, creativity, political and cultural formation? Furthermore, how is the dispute over the regulation of networks and information technology a fundamental movement for rethinking the dictatorship of such mechanisms?
