Abstract

Public buildings in Barcelona have been very important in the structuring of social activities and the organization of urban spaces. These types of buildings offer the facilities that provide services for the community according to their needs and in order to assure a balanced urban development in which differences can be identified. These projects can claim several achievements: improving the use of free spaces situated in strategic areas; organizing architectural complexes; integrating the use of the building; relying on the active participation of the community to guarantee the compatibility and relevance of the project in relation to the needs of the people who use the sector.
