Abstract

The objective of the essay is to analyze the literary representations of infrastructures in Hurricane Season (2017) by Fernanda Melchor and in “Donaldson Park” (2013) by Sergio Chejfec. Through the everyday praxis, infrastructures display the symbolic, social, cultural,
and political interactions between human beings and infrastructures, which are considered by Larkin as semiotic and aesthetic vehicles. In a violent environment, Melchor shows the social representation of the highway as a symbol of extractivism while Chejfec describes the city in the only way that is possible due to the immensity of its dimensions: at human scale.
