Abstract

The article examines the concept known as relation fight-support in order to evaluate the strengthening of the Colombian armed forces. It emphasizes how in the last decades, and in an erroneous way, it has been argued that an increase in the number of fighters, in detriment of the number of persons that offer support for the battle, leads necessarily to an increase in the fighting capacity. Contrary to this, it stands for the establishment of priorities, the assignment of specific tasks and the improvement in the use of the resources. It is suggested that quantity is not synonym of quality, and it stands for the need to professionalize the military forces.
