Abstract
The article presents a metaphor of the world as a historic category, suggesting that the planet is no longer the scenery where a group of histories take place, but rather a history on its own. With the purpose of turning such image into a concept of social theory, the author digs into the issue of the strengthening of the globalization and transit (caused by the same) of a universal history into an emerging global history of its own.
