Eikos logos-eikos mythos: Logos as a Representation of the World

No. 44 (2012-12-01)

Abstract

In addition to operating as an epistemological vehicle, Timaios’ eikos logos is also a manifestation of an original conception of mimesis and of a deep consideration of the world as a teleological event and of the physis as an order. The problem with the physical logos is closely linked, on the one hand, with the truth of the sensible world itself and, on the other hand, with the mechanisms of sensation and the truth within them. What really matters is the way in which soul meets sensation and to generate thought of the physical and the degree of certainty it can reach, as well as and the conditions it is dependent upon.
