No. 46 (2013-05-01)

Abstract

The analysis of solidarity such as this concept has been used throughout history allows us to explore its potential for the development of democracy and the realization of human rights and fundamental rights. The conception of solidarity as a common responsibility in the face of structural injustice —inspired by the ideas of Iris Marion Young— reveals itself as a good alternative to the empirical and normative conceptions of solidarity and has important theoretical and practical consequences for democracy and rights.

Keywords: Solidarity, responsibility, structural injustice, democracy, human rights, social rights
