Abstract
The homogenization of food patterns has affected potato production, causing it to concentrate on a few varieties and leading to the disappearance of other potatoes of great cultural, biological, and nutritional value. Aware of this loss of biodiversity for food security and sovereignty, it is interesting to learn about the experience of Mr. Pedro Briceño, a farmer and micro-entrepreneur from Boyacá, a pioneer in rescuing and producing native potatoes. This paper presents excerpts from an interview with Pedro, a potato and vegetable farmer in the municipality of Ventaquemada (Boyacá, Colombia), who has managed to position different native Andean species in restaurants and markets in Bogotá. The interview further explores his experience and provides recommendations for collective work between agricultural research entities (such as AGROSAVIA and CIRAD) and peasant producer companies to rescue these species.
