Abstract

Hibridity? has been one of the most important discursive structures in theconstruction of latinoamerican identity. We use Foucault ’s concept of?discourse? in order to think ?hibridity? because for him, discourses arepractices that structure our sense of reality, that form the concepts that weuse to think about ourselves and determine our behavior. We present here asynthesis of the ideas of some contemporary thinkers who work with thenotion of hibridity. This synthesis shows the heterogeneity of the debate andpresents ?hibridity? not as an unitarian and stable concept, but as a conceptin constant negotiation, alive, being re-defined and used to think and re-define the so called latinoamerican identity.
