Abstract

This article tries to offer a synthesis of historical development of the dominant paradigm in social psychology. It approaches to the origin of the concept, definition, authors and events that traditionally are considered like the foundation of this psychological field; additionally, it indicates the facts, theories, works, methods, and issues that are more significant in the short course of the empirical-analytical tradition in social psychology. In the same way, it offers an assessment of handbooks and serial publications that are definitive ones for the development of the field, and, finally, the paper shows its unique impact in psychological science.
