Labor regulations and teachers’ resistance: a case study with lower secondary education teachers in Mexico

Abstract
Since the nineties Latin America begins a very deep reconfiguration of teachers’ labor according to the international policies with the object: increase the quality in education systems. The aim of this policy is of accountability though the standardized examination of students and teachers without the consideration of the different contexts in which the teachers work. This qualitative research explores this phenomenon and documents how the teachers in a secondary school in Tlaxcala in Mexico face the policy of the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) (Department of Education) between 2013-2108 to increase the number of students with satisfactory notes in their classes. The theoretical concept which orders the research is the resistance developed by Giroux.
