Case study of teacher collaboration around a curricular reform

Abstract
This article presents a case study about collaborative processes among professors during a curricular reform in a Colombian higher education institution. The main objective for this paper was to understand the collaborative processes: Why they happen, what strengthens or weakens them, and what influences the processes generate. My findings stressed the importance of creating formal collaboration spaces that reveal what occurs during informal settings, given the effects the latter has on teaching practice. Specifically, it is essential to focus on casual gatherings where teachers collaborate and learn. The results presented here leave lessons and tools that aid the development of the collaborative processes in educational organizations.
